August 10th 2007:

With just over 24 hours before the big 2007/2008 Championship kick off, the latest odds have been announced.
The pundits have made Watford favourites for the league, offering punters a 3/1 chance of them lifting the title in May.
The second favourites for league title glory are Charlton Athletic who are at 4/1, closely followed by West Bromwich Albion at 6/1.
Other contenders for promotion include Ipswich, Sheffield United and Wolves.
Cardiff City’s hopes of winning the league title appear to be slim at best with odds of 50/1 being given. The Bluebirds though are 30/1 to win promotion, indicating that they may be fancied by some should they be able to earn a place in the play offs, but it is unlikely.
These odds may not come as much of a surprise to those at Ninian Park, with the board said to be happy with a mid table finish this season as part of a three year promotion plan.
If the transfer dealings are anything to go by, it would appear as though the manager is building for the future and promotion could be too soon this season.
