League Cup Round 1
Cardiff City stumbled through the first round of the League Cup with an unconvincing victory over League 2 Notts County.
After a quiet opening Cardiff City took the lead thanks to a fine finish from Robbie Fowler from Joe Ledley’s pass.
That should have sparked the Bluebirds into life, but they failed to really control the game against the weaker opposition.
Cardiff manager Jonathan Walker made a number of changes to the side ahead of the game, giving a start to goal keeper Michael Oakes and winger Gabriel Torje. Torje came into the side in place of the injured Trevor Sinclair who will be out for three weeks with a damaged foot.
Cardiff should have doubled their lead late in the second half but on loan striker Frazier Campbell fired the ball over the crossbar following a scramble from a corner.
The result though was what was important this evening, the Bluebirds will now face Barnsley at home in the second round.
