Cardiff Ciy 0 Stoke City 0

August 25th 2007:

Cardiff City draw a second consecutive game in the league following a 0-0 stalemate against Stoke City at Ninian Park.

The game was a poor one with neither side creating much in the way of clear cut goal scoring opportunities.

Cardiff boss Jonathan Walker opted to stick with a 4-5-1 formation that had earned them a draw in Bristol the previous week. Roger Johnson replaced the suspended Darren Purse and new loan signing Nigel Quashie replaced Gavin Rae.

With the draw looking more and more likely after the hour had passed, Walker reverted to a 4-4-2 formation with Frazier Campbell replacing Baba Collins.

The change in system couldn’t spark Cardiff into life and could have gone behind with five minutes to go when Richard Creswell was unmarked in the six yard box. Luckily for Cardiff goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was at his best and produced a brilliant save from the striker’s header.

The game ended goalless resulting in Cardiff slipping down to ninth place in the table, but are still unbeaten.
